Michael White holds a dual baccalaureate degree in English and history from Troy University in Troy, Alabama, and a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology, Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia. He has served faithfully as a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ since March 1978, including 27.5 years as a pastor from June 1984 until December 2011. He is currently serving on staff as a chaplain with the Waterfront Rescue Mission in Mobile, AL, ministering to homeless men and men recovering from addiction.

In addition to this book, Mike has also authored several others, which you may browse at his author's site, along with numerous other articles and devotionals for various publications. He has posted most of these on his Web site, Parson Place. In April 2006, Mike became the founder and managing editor of Parson Place Press, an independent Christian publishing house.

Mike married his wife, Ellen, in 1981. They have two children, a daughter, Amy, and her children, Makenzie, Connor, and Aiden, and a son, Joshua, who continues to live with Mike and Ellen.
